Task
To develop a base station capable of receiving water/gas/heat meter readings and transmitting them to utility providers’ servers.
Main requirements: the device shall be capable of receiving data from hundreds of thousands of metering instruments located within several kilometres, transmitting the data to the upper level of the system, as well as communicating with the instruments in order to expand system functionality.
Solution
- Designing of a collinear antenna with the appropriate directional pattern
- Development and implementation of a 1024-channel panoramic receiver capable of receiving data from hundreds of instruments simultaneously
- Development and implementation of a service communication link radio modem intended to communicate with the metering instruments
- Introduction of an LTE/GNSS module for precise timing and Internet connection via mobile phone networks, into the base station
- Development and introduction into the base station of a PoE-compatible secondary power source compliant with all safety and lightning protection regulations
- Development of a special software to enable meeting all the customer’s requirement relating to instrument readings transmission to the user’s account, flexible and user-friendly setting up of all base station elements, and monitoring of base station technical condition
